Hi,
Have been hearing a noise since I got my car. It's pretty much audible all the time but can hear it from 20km/h upward.
It's a high pitched "tsssss" type of noise, and the tone changes as car coasts/slows down but most audible at about 30-40km/h but can still hear it at higher speeds
So far I've done the following.
- Changed rear left wheel bearing
- Changed both half shafts
- Tried different tyres
- Checked brakes for binding and lubed caliper sliding pins, inspected for any loose bits in the calipers that may be grinding, inspected to see if rotors rub on dust cover plate
- Adjusted handbrake shoes down to check if was cause of problem
- Inspected to see if half shafts and the tailshaft were rubbing/fouling on anything.
Now I'm wondering could the diff cause this type of noise, or anything else?
Any ideas, Anybody had a similar problem?
Thanks.

Since you changed all that, I would say the only part left would be the diff? It could also be the balance of your wheels causing harmonic noise to be transmitted through your cabin.
I know that when I run semi slicks - I get harmonic noise throughout from 40-110km/h that is annoying at times. I thought it was the balance, so got that checked. Changed wheels to another set - problem gone.

Yeah have tried different wheel/tyre combo too same exact noise i'm getting. Had this set of wheels on old Soarer, didn't make the noise so guess that rules the wheels out
Might replace the diff as it's the last bit left, I thought diffs only whine or clunk though when worn?
