As some know, my car is being converted to manual.

From my research I sussed out a JZA80 box with the remote shift. But it turns out that the shifter sits 8mm too far back. Now I'm after a shifter assembly.

Here is the box I had as you can see with the remote shift.

And here is what shifter assembly I need according to Taplin whom is doing the conversion for me.

I hope someone can help me source this or know of somewhere. I've been posting all over Supra forums, JZX100 and Toymods and still nothing :-(

That's a bummer Ken.

I am about to do the same conversion on my V8 with a remote shift R154 - hope I don't have the same issue!

Is the shifter fouling the trans tunnel at the back?

Don't know, Peter just told me that it sits too far back by 8mm and I should find a replacement shifter assembly.

It's in fact sitting 80mm too far back so I need to get a different housing otherwise i'll be looking at getting a different box all together.

One thing that puzzles me; why did everyone mention a remote shift box?

Sits almost 10cm too far back so it's not a good solution.

That's odd, Ken - what conversion are you using? CRS? Mine is a remote shift W58 and it's fine.

Yep mine is a W58 box. I'm using the Bullet conversion kit. I'm really confused!

I'd be cutting it and welding a different bent up bit to suit instead. Rather than fork out for a new one.

Up to you but when you're doing something custom anyway you may as well make it to suit. We had to do quite a lot of these kinds of things to get the transmission to work in the zed :-)

There is not a chance that a remote shift w58 is sitting too far back, i have this exact gearbox with a1 turbos bellhousing and if anything it sits forward by maybe 10mm.

Simon, do you mean the shifter sits about 10mm forward over stock?

I have an A1 turbos bellhousing, flywheel and a remote shift R154 which is about 40mm longer than the W58 remote shift from what I can see.

with that shifter setup it would sit about 10cm back too far (towards rear of car)
the one in your last picture would be the one you are looking for, or get the ma70 one and modify it by extending the housing.

The pictures Ken has at the very top are of a W58 remote shift, which sits about 10mm further forward than factory.

I can see how an R154 would be wrong though.

Hmmm how could the r154 be wrong if its 40mm longer than the w58. Is there not enough room for it to sit back 30mm further?

Arse if that's the case. I am ready to do my conversion!

It was in fact sticking further back by 80mm! A new housing was sourced and sits more centred. Sorry for the confusion.

So are you not using the Bullet housing now? I thought they were the same as the CRS ones which I used and had no issues at all.
