Has anyone had trouble moving their gear lever to neutral using the red button, do you have to have the battery connected or is it just a manual operation. I am having a hell of a time trying to use it to get it into neutral by pressing this button. Am I doing something wrong?

Sometimes it won't move immediately, but I just keep the red button pressed down, and grab the shifter (button down as well) and wiggle it about for a bit, and it always moves eventually.

From memory it's only a mechanical latch, the red button pushes a white plastic latch out of the way of the shifter mechanism.

I'm sure there is a picture of it on here somewhere.

it is a mechnical latch the red button pusshes a big white plastic leaver that pushes down and should spring the leaver free(the jist of it), no power needed, im thinking the red button aint pressing the leaver down at all
