Hey guys,
I am having a weird problem with my auto gearbox!!
Car is 1995 a Toyota Soarer. I have recently finished a full Engine, Gearbox and ECU Conversion in the car out of a 2JZ GTE Aristo.
I have a MV Shift Kit 1.5 installed a week ago. I have a transcooler. Car made 25O RWKW tuned a few nights ago on a mainline [Roughly 27O RWKW on a dyno dynamics]
The problem is weird. When the car has been parked overnight I start the car put it in reverse and nothing. It is like it is neutral. I put it in Drive and back into reverse nothing. I try every gear then back to Reverse Nothing.
I then put it in Drive let it go forward a few metres, and I feel like something engages/catches in the gearbox. Once this happens I put it in Reverse and it goes straight in with a bang thanks to the shift kit.
It engages 1st 2nd 3rd and Overdrive no problems. It does not feel like its slipping at all. It feels strong when accelerating in each gear.
Other times when the car has sat overnight I put it in Reverse and it engages straight away no problem.
Just wondering if anyone has had anything similar happen to the auto gearboxes where it engages reverse no problems sometimes and other times you have to drive forward feel a clunk and then it goes straight into reverse.
I have searched this site and other sites. Alot of people have said that the gearbox is on its way to to the scrap yard lol, is it a definite?? Could it be something as simple as a faulty solenoid, or something like the gear selector rod [??? guessing not sure, lol] that is clipped in the valve body once you put it back in not engaging gears properly.
