the problem sometimes disappears for half an hour or so, but very rarely. Maybe in the middle of the night when its freezing cold, or after driving the at speeds above 100KM/H down the highway.
when its working, all the gears are fine. Drive uses 1,2,3 and 4 (OD) perfectly, runs like a dream.
but when its not working (most of the time) it goes like this:
R - Fine D - Only 3rd and 4th 2 - 3rd gear (I'm 100% sure it isn't 2nd) L - 1st gear, works fine.
so i have to take off manually selecting first, then Drive (pretty horrible acceleration since its going from 1st to 3rd then OD, since theres no gear 2 feels very sluggish).
But when it decides to work once every now and then its perfect, like i said.
Diagnostics say ECT 62, so i guess that means i need a replacement solenoid 1, correct?
seems fairly straightforward but then i'm concerned there might be more to it since it sometimes works fine?
Can either be the solenoid itself isn't earthed well, I solved my problem by scraping some of the coating off the solenoid where it mounts and mounted it again, or it can be one of the wires around the bellhousing stripped, plugs etc. Or well the solenoid itself.

Not sure if this will help, when the ECU plays up and goes into limp (home) mode, the trans will not take off in 1st with drive selected, I think it takes off in 3rd, but works fine in 1st if 1st is selected. But there are a lot of other thigs that happen in limp mode as well.

Prateek when my auto was playing up i was put on to Dean's automatic transmission's in capalaba i had a quick chat with them on the phone and they are fairly helpful however i can not give any feedback on there work.

Just got Solenoids checked Mechanically.
All looks good but problem still persist. The Mechanics are in good condition but no Diagonose could find the problem as Computer it self cannot store any codes.
Question:
Is Engine ECU and Auto-Trans ECU is same unit ?
Where Auto trans computer is located in a V8 soarer and how it can be replaced ?
Last Question ( not least) can I replace a UZZ30 computer with UZZ31 or 32 being similar engine and trans ?
