Just picked up my gearbox from a friend from his Soarer TT, its going into my JZX90 Mark II. Problem being is soarer box is A340E and the one in my car is a A341E, can i still use the soarer box ? If so wat would have to be modified to make it fit ??

Hey,

I asked the same question in a few posts below yours. They are different. Very different.
The sensors, tailshaft mount and internal electrics are different and wont work together.

I have a A341E for sale if your interested.

I currently just installed a new gearbox into my car. All that was differnt between the two boxes was one little switch , think its the one that tells that ecu what gear your in but you just swap then over.

When I did my 1JZGTE swap into my JZA80 supra, I had to rewire the position sensor aswel (talking about a different A340 once again), and there is one 2 pin plug left unconnected (still too lazy to find out what it is)
Apart from a transmission error code, everything works great!

Hey guys, I'm new here - I just happened upon this forum when looking for the question I'm about to ask:

What transmission(s) was(were) the 1jz-gte offered with? I live in US, and I'm trying to figure out if it's the same that's in my SC300 (it's the A343E trans.).

Reason I'm asking is that I'm interested in swapping the 1jz into my 2jz-ge powered car, and wanted to know if it would be worth while to get the Soarer trans. or just keep my SC300 one.

Thanks guys, I look forward to participating more in this forum!

If you're gonna go through the hassle of an engine conversion, just put a R154 in there! Probably end up kicking yourself later on down the track if you don't...

I'd love to, but that means doing an auto to 5 speed swap, which is a ways beyond my budget at this point. I would like to do that in the future, though, maybe even the v160/v161... :-)
Basically, I'm trying to find out if I'd be better off with the 1jz trans, or my 2jz-ge trans (A343E). If the 1jz trans is different from mine, do you guys know how much power it is capable of holding (without modifications)?

I believe they are both A343's, but still might have some different internals. Someone here is bound to know if there are any differences. The diff might be an issue though... might pay to think about putting a LSD in.

And there are guys here putting out 230+ RWKw through the auto transmission - most of them probably have ATF coolers fitted though.

I hear the A341LE is stronger than the A340E. Different first gear ratio too. Still only a 4-plate clutch on 2nd gear which is why it dies so often. Mike at MV automatics told me that with a stage 1 shift kit & cooler the A341LE is good for up to 265rwkw.
Check out the electrical and tailshaft differences as mentioned above.

Just an update, Rhys fitted the A340E where the 341E was fitted before, 2 different sensor locations was all it was.

What car did the 341LE come in???

The A340LE and A340E are all interchangeable as long as they are from a 1j . Only part that had to be changed was the position sensor switch, which is easily unbolted and bolted back up . .
Other difference which is noticeable is the output shaft on some slide into the gearbox and some others actually bolt to a unijoint from the box. .

Can anybody confirm the strength differences between jzz30 a340e, jzx81 A341LE, and JZA70 A342E?

Maybe MV's might be helpful.

Thanks.

the jzz30 a340 box is definitely stronger than the jza70 a342. i would have thought they were basically the same, however- a drag racer here broke lots of them(a342),on standard turbos!!! while my own car(a340) with same power lasted years.

Maybe he stressed the box more than you did, different conditions etc?

Hey guys feel the need to replace shift solonoids in my A340E in my Twin Turbo. Could any one give me the part numbers for these 3 items and also is the guy in melbourne still doing the upgraded valve bodies for them. Thanks in advance for your spot on information. This is one of the best sites I have come across. Great work lads.

Kind Regards

Dave graham
