hey guys, ill get straight to the point.
one day while driving my soarer skipped 2nd gear while taking off.. went straight into third. came up with ect and code 63. did e1 and te1. got same code.. reset drove and no o/d or 2nd gear... same code 63.
checked solenoids. 12v 1amp. and acuated fine.. changed with known spares and replaced filter and tranny oil.. (oil always serviced at least every 5th oil change) threw same code no 2nd or o/d...
removed sard ecu and replaced with oe, ecu.. shifts fine all day long...
MY QUESTION: does anyone know wat part of the ecu board controls the gearbox and can i swap parts between oem and sard boards with out needing to remoce IC's and stuff.......
i really need my limiters removed boost rev speed etc..
or any suggestions on a compromise

well i did exactly wat Daniel suggested anyway haha.. jus went through all the caps on the sard board and found 2 that were out of range.. one was a little above the range and the other was open circuit.. so i replaced them (my father hoards all kinds of random stuff) and took it for a spin.. changes like a dream..
on a side note, wen i pulled the efi fuse to reset the codes i noticed (by accidently touching it) that the efi relay (metal looking cylinder) was freakin hot... this can't be normal can it??
pics of caps : first pic is the one on the main board.. (where the plug connectors join on). second pic: is the second one on the sub-board where the sard chip platform has been soldered on.. third pic: sard chip platform. 4th pic is the tester i used to figure out which caps where outside nominal range..

Hi Matthew.
I am having a similar problem with gearbox shifting.
I have checked the caps in 2 TT ECU's and have same results as you. 2 out of range, 1 open circuit, 1 slightly above and 1 ok. 1 Ecu has had caps replaced and the other is original.
Tests between the ECU's were very similar.
Did you record your test results?

i didn't record my findings no.. i was more concerned about keep the wheels spinning with the smoke consistency through 2nd and 3rd gears
the meter i used had a chart on it, it had what voltage (V) and then the unit of microfarads across (uf) it had a preset value on the chart and if the cap was over it then it was screwed and as long as it wasn't too far below the range then it was ok.
i do remember the 35v 33uf cap on the main board was over the range by a little bit.. which was no good... and the 35v 15uf ( located on the 2ndry circuit board) was open circuit..
it was probly a good idea to keep a record so well done and i did compare the caps on the sard ecu to a std ecu and they were very similar.. exact same marked caps, but very slightly different values.
i would really like to know what parts of the board are what. would make the diagnosis a little easier.
