My car doesnt seem to kick down into 1st at the right speed and my PWR switch doesnt seem to be working (or the light on the dash broke). If my car is over 25km/h and i floor it, it will stay in 2nd gear. Im thinking my problems are related to each other so does anybody know the answer?

Hi Vincent,
Some questions

Have you done a diagnostic check of the transmission?

When was the last time trans. fluid was checked or changed?

Has the kickdown cable been adjusted?

If PWR is on, it won't kick down to 1st if 2nd gear is selected. It should if Drive is selected though.

Hey Evan thanks for your response!

I have not and do not know how to do the diagnostic test.

Trans fluid was changed 6 months ago and the car had the same problem before the change

The kickdown cable has not been adjusted. From what I was reading on other posts, that cable is just to make the shifts harder. Does it also change the shift points?
