So I farked 1st and 2nd in my shift kitted auto yesterday and now I'm going to get MV autos to build me a trans. Does anybody here run one of these and if so, could you tell me what they are like to drive around on?

Thanks!

Rather than start a new thread, i'll post in this one..
Is MV Auto's still the best in adelaide?
Anyone know of a good place closer to Port Adelaide?
got 2 soarers that need a service, and possibly a shift kit in 1 that isn't done yet..

Chris, I would say MV are the best for the Soarer box. Others maybe capable, but none would know these boxes like Mike.

Chris, just on a side note, where, and when was the pic taken in your profile??

I'm also interested for something that can handle about 500hp or So and the costs involved, and what parts will be put in.

Does anybody have a manual "Shift Box".... where when you are in "L", and you hit it into "2", it instantly commands the Solenoid to shift into 2nd.... I don't want Suprastick as this seems to be more so for using the Cruise Stalk, i want it done with the stock gear shifter.

OK. Just looked a bit like a run I went on up to the Barossa around about 7+ years ago with a heap of Adelaide blokes. We went to Angaston via Norton Summit. Lost all my photos from that trip when my computor crashed.

We started the cruise at the car park near the racecourse on Fullarton Rd. I cant remember all the blokes, but was Peter Nitscke, Ken Bruns in his LS400, Brenton Trafford, me of course in my green UZZ30, a couple of white ones. Cant remember them all.

I think I tried to get a Cams shift box or it was another name but I couldn't contact the guy. Is there any chance I can get one of these shift boxes that work well? I know there is quite a bit of trickery involved and it's not as simple as wiring in a few diodes etc to get it to respond well under every driving condition.

Could anybody give me more brands such as CAMS box or know where I could buy one?

How does CAMS box compare to MV Shift box?

shifts are controlled electronically by the solenoids, there is a thread on toymods of how to make a shift box for under $10. google it.

I had a look at that one but I think it's a bit more complicated than that, without going into too much detail there are certain situations where the ECU can get confused I think which the more expensive shift boxes take care of.

I guess it doesn't hurt to build one.

If you want proper control of the gearbox get a PCS TCM-2000 controller like I did.

Awesome bit of gear.

relay style or diode style shifting you WILL kill the box if you forget and nail it off the mark in top gear.. and it will happen!

But Allan, it's manualised so you need to shift it ...

Are you telling me when driving a manual you sometimes take off in 4th ???

Anyways , I've never had dramas with not shifting correctly when manualised , and it makes burnouts easier by using 2nd to start with .
