Has anyone had any experiences with the F1 clutch kit and fly wheel off eBay? It's the stage 4 racing clutch.

I would hope they give more info on the site than just a stage 4 racing clutch, which means diddly squat really in my eyes ..

Sounds to much hyp, F1 Clutch kit, stage 4, bla bla ..

No offence meant to you Zac, but it sounds like they are using words to draw certain types of people in, i could be wrong though might be a good thing ??

Yeah man. Just stick with the well known brand (exedy, giken, extreme etc) Coz even sometimes they can't get them right

Theres different stages on there to compare them all I'm not a complete retard. I was mainly trying to see if Anyone had used one before. I can't get the link but on eBay just type 'clutch Soarer' if anyone wants to check it out. Any opinions would be appreciated

do you mean this one

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/F1-STAGE-4-CLUTCH-KIT-RACING-FLYWHEEL-JDM-SUPRA-SOARER-SC300-1JZGTE-2JZGT E-R154-/161045808558?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item257f1405ae

if so it will cost you like another $300 in shipping my suggestion would be to talk to direct clutch services http://www.directclutch.com.au/ or NPC http://www.yellowpages.com.au/qld/archerfield/npc-performance-clutches-14295858-listing.html tell them on what your plan for the car is and what power level and any motorsport you plan on using it for and go from there both are good to deal with but i found that talking to them both that direct clutch had much better customer service on the phone any way
hope that helps you out
cheers matt

yeah depends on what power your putting down.

i had a stock clutch in mine and it copped tons of abuse, granted i was only making stock power. still sounds to me like there's far to many "buzz" words in the description which leaves me a little concerned.

is there much difference between stages 1 - 4? and is it an international standard or just some hype a company has made up?

also regarding postage it shouldn't be TOO much, i got my replacement clutch disc + slave cylinder + lines + bolts and other junk all sent to me, express post for $80 - $90 and it got here from america with in a week which i thought was pretty good

this is the guy i bought my stock replacement parts off:

Stage one had a round disc with organic pads and the stage 4 had a six puck disc with copper ceramic pads it cost me $750-800 AU as I could talk them down in shipping. Around here I could get a slightly modified stock-ish clutch for $1350 installed my car has already been through 2 so far

What power are you running to go through 2 clutches? Or just bad driving technique ?

The clutch was replaced before I bought it (apparently) but I'm in the range of 220-230 rwkw.

That sort of power range a stockie Toyota one would handle it & if driven properly should last for years ..

Something's not right if you are going through clutches quickly ..

I've only been through this one I have no idea what it is but it feels like flywheel hadnt been machined so I'm assuming it was a cheap job to sell car. It has 275's on rear and an LSD so thats alot of grip it's been sideways a couple of times but not to many

Dan is right .. I had a six puk also in mine and was a bit harsh to drive... I ended up welding the clutch plate to the flywheel and ended up just throwing in a stock clutch of eBay only cost me $550 and I have 267kw(350hp at wheels) and its been 2 years and still going strong,as Robert said if driven right should hand that power just fine... I drive mine like its ment to be driven and it's handled it just fine...

A lot of us had clutches made by Jim Berry. I have not heard of a failure in one of his clutches. You ship your factory clutch to him and he works his magic on it. (New friction material, new pressure plate, altered shift pivot point to make it feel like a stock clutch, not the 3500lb monster it is)

In the race car I have an Exeedy (super street/tuff street or something like that). It was bought as an emergency replacement to get me through before I got Jim Berry to make me one for the race car. It has copped a few years of circuit abuse at BPU power, and a meeting at 240rwkw. Hopefully see how it handles 300rwkw soon .

If you want to go the ebay route, have a look at how it rate in it's home market - ie see if people in the US rate them. Doesn't need to be Soarer specific...torque is torque. The clutch doesn't recognise engine brands so look for a popular car in the US with similar power and torque as a guide.

I use the same clutch. It would be a bitch if I had to drive everyday, and it hates to be slipped, but it always hooks up no matter what I do. I looked into the ebay one before they were on ebay, and for almost the same money I ended up with the Exeedy. The best part is that it was purchased local, so any issues and I would have been able to take it back. Its been 2 years now, and not one problem with it at all.

Jeff, that new clutch of yours is doing very well. I know how you drive...

The wife drives the TT in city traffic with an Exedy HD Street Tuff every day with no dramas, probably rolling on about ~220rwkw. It takes me a bit of getting used to to get it off the line, but that's mainly because I'm used to the Corolla which is 3/4 of a tonne lighter :-)

I've got an NPC organic. They claim it to hold up to 280rwkw. First couple of days it was very heavy and the clutch point was very close to the floor. Moving it up 1cm would be fully engaged. After the bed in period its almost exactly the same feel as the stock clutch.
