Hi, I have a question about the auto gearboxes. My UZZ30 has a dying gearbox, and I have a spare A340E gearbox from a JZZ30 lying around. Is it possible to replace the A341 with the A340 without any issues (obviously excluding changing the bell-housing)? They are both from 91 models. I can't seem to find much info on the subject

you need to compare the electrical plugs. if they have the same plugs and pin pattern i imagine it will be fine. The lower first gear in the TT box will mean the car accelerates a little faster initially, but the rest is the same. When the boxes are side by side, check that the front spline is the same.

Hi Nick, what's wrong with the gearbox?
Just putting this in here in case you don't already know...
Do a diagnostic by bridging TE1+E1 with some wire and taking the WA+WB pin out of the engine bay diag thing.
Car will then blink error code through the overdrive light on the dash. My EMV TV isn't working, so forgot if EMV can diagnose it...
If it is an error 63, that's easy!
-Shorted wire (or loose) from ecu to gearbox -Bad solenoid -Bad ecu
Solenoids are easy to replace. Slot out - slot in - basically.
Seems that a lot of us have error 63 (solenoid 2) issues and car usually takes off in the wrong gear, or comes to a stop in the wrong gear. Basically the car is sluggish.
Solenoids 1 and 2 can come in a dual pack - so when you ask someone for the #2 solenoid, you usually get a dual solenoid including solenoid #1.
Solenoid 1+2 are for gears. Solenoid 3+4 is for torque converter etc. Don't quote me on that - but pretty sure i read it on a Soarer forum before.
Use Toyota Type IV trans oil if you can also. Many Soarer people claim Type IV is the correct fluid eventhough your dipstick says dexII. (which would mean dexIII is fine also as this is 2015).
Last but not least - check your ECU for issues. ECU can cause many shifting woes.
