Greetings to all,
Well after much research over a period of more than a year, I've decided it's about time I did the conversion.
The transmission Im keen on using is a brand new R154 (it seems the guys at castlehill have them as of recently [I know someone would have asked]), that aside Im having problems with sorting the bellhousing, clutch, flywheel, throwout bearing, slave cylinder, etc. The kit made by Bullet apparently requires some spacer to fit the R154 due to the shaft length, will raise complications for that time when I decide to get headers, and sourcing a new clutch after the one included in the kit goes bust isn't the position you'd want to be in. Anyone have a recommendation for a good quality kit that would allow me to use a clutch off say a 1J, I don't suppose one of you has one of Neil Griffiths kits laying around ?
That aside I did find a Dellow bellhousing (which I don't mind ditching) for a decent price and picked it up recently, but can't find any history of anyone putting a Dellow in a Soarer, can anyone shed some light on this ?
Before anyone asks I intend to see what the possibilities of converting a UZZ32 are, hence the necessity of this being done right, however if it just won't have it, then it's going to have to be the 31.
other than that... Im keen to get cracking

Rush Imports made a kit for the 1uz that allows you to keep the same clutch setup as 1jz. Also has no problem with clearance on the rush extractors. The castlemaine setup will not clear extractors. Did you sort out a tail shaft?

Thanks John, I saw that kit a while ago, but unfortunately it is for the W58 transmission. and I've heard it wont clear the headers.
Scott, yes the Rush Imports kit, I would have picked it up but unfortunately they don't exist anymore, the T56 kit replaced it, as for the tailshaft not yet, when I find a manual tailshaft Ill pick it up and after the conversion is done, Ill make measurements and its off for cut, weld and balancing.

Im pretty sure it won't be simple to get one of Neil's kits, any idea how I might contact him ? I probably would have given him the car to do the conversion for me if he wasn't so far.

Update, after going back and forth with Toyota Castlehill, they don't seem sure on the price of the complete r154 and keep changing their minds, I have found that some guy on ebay is selling them at a decent price excluding tax and claims they are being shipped over from Toyota in New Zealand, any thoughts ? does anyone have any experience buying a new R154, any place recommended ? Im even considering getting a used one at this stage, anyone need to get a good condition remote shift R154 off their hands ?

As far as im aware only remote r154 from Chasers are available new for 2800? The difference is 5th and reverse now have double synco i think these boxes may be shorter in length though may need to check.

Where did you see it for 2800, Castle Hill changed their minds to around 4200 for the whole Soarer box, anyone know if the speed signal from the chasers needs to be converted to digital ? also if anyones got pedals, manual driveshaft or the stock soarer gearknob, even a good trans hit me up.

So I was trying to mount up the pedals the other day, and found the infamous electronics that foul against the clutch pedal on the v8s, Im aware that some people have moved them while others have modified the bracket/mount, any input on how this is done ? some images would be great too, then I was checking up on the brake pedal, and with so much stuff in the way, I couldn't think of anyway I would be able to replace it, do you need to remove the entire dash for access ?
