One day I entered my V8 as usual, put the key in, started up the engine, put my foot on the brake and went to move the gear stick to 'D'. But alas, the gear stick didn't move. I now have to use the good old red button each time I want to get out of 'P'. This issue has probably been raised a couple of times but I didn't find any evidence of it through the Search feature.

The shift lock module gets power from three fuses; Cigarette lighter Stop lamps (after the brake switch) Battery
All are 15A fuses. Blown brake bulbs won't affect its' operation but a blown brake fuse will as will either of the others. There is a switch and a solenoid connected to the module as well. Either could be sticky or otherwise faulty. The final part is the Ignition switch which could have a faulty lock solenoid.
