after reading through a few threads, i know people have suggested solenoids, and i know in my past mz21 soarer i had to recondition the entire gearbox, but i was wondering if anyone ever came across this nilly.

When i put my foot down, the first to second gear change kinda half slips, and takes maybe around a second to kick into second gear. only when im putting the foot down though, normal - hard driving its fine.

i was wondering if an ECU reset would fix this, considering its been back for maybe a couple of weeks from the mechanic. the other thing is, is there an easy way to 'top up' transmission fluid?

Sounds a bit like a line pressure problem. Has the cable been adjusted? Could be electrical too so a reset won't hurt.

The thing with mine is it started happening when I changed the injectors to 440's and to get to them you have to remove the cables so Im guessing that I done it up wrong.

when i accelerate as hard as possible, ti slips

when i accelerate normal, or accelerate with a bit of force, its fine.

Yep.

Have you been driving hard? Dont feel too bad, 2nd is usually the first to go if you launch hard alot. On my car, 2nd was slipping for about a year before it finally let go... And 1st gear usually dies soon afterwards as soon as 2nd completely dies.

Either way, to fix the problem, your gearbox needs to be opened and you're gonna have to replace the clutchpacks.

If I was you... and I had a couple grand spare. I'd go straight to Grandpa and get a manual conversion done ($3400+ish).

If I was you... and I dont have a couple of grand spare... Pick up a 2nd hand gearbox for $350-450 ($450 for a gearbox with warranty) and pay your mechanic $200-250 to put it in. Most competant mechanics can do this.

The problem is that once the gearbox is slipping (indication of busted clutch packs), it's too late to take preventative measures like shift kit/oil cooler to reduce heat.
