I only recommend the following places due to the outstanding work and service i received.
I highly recommend Qld Torque Convertors at Stafford.
$190 got me a full reco of the convertor, re-alignment of the fins, new seals, increased stall to about 3000rpm and the welds are pressure tested so they wont leak. Cant beat that price anywhere in qld.
Give Peter a call on 3356 6066. Only call if you have a genuine enquiry, he is really busy most of the time and i dont want him to get inundated with questions.
You will also find that he has a lot of knowledge to share, so if you want a bigger stall ask him.
Dolphin Automatics at Kippa-ring did my auto install and im extremely happy with the result. Give Marty a call on 3883 2225. Cheap and very thorough compared to other places and very helpful.
A good mechanic is very hard to find, but hopefully these guys can help you out for Tranny requirements that most of us need.

I sent my spare converter down there and he looked at that one and is now modifying and I think using a tarago converter to make the 4000rpm stall. He said stock converter can be modded to 3000rpm, MV said if you go to a pajero/stock converter you can get to 3400rpm and QLD torque converters said they can use a tarago/stock one to make a 4000rpm stall
I would check your local converter places as they all do the same thing really. If they are too expensive, then you could pull yours out and send it up. Otherwise, you could wait until I get mine in and buy my spare and I send it to him to get modded. Or some other spare converter somewhere. I have no idea when I will get time to get the converter in. Want to get car running and tuned nicely before that.

Peter from QLD torque converters is the man! Rung me yesterday to let me know that the converter is done and I can come and get it whenever. I am about 100kms away from him. I said I may be able to get there on Tuesday as I was taking a day off to do assignments and he said he is actually coming up to Harvey Bay that day and can drop it off at my place for me! (I wouldn’t expect him to be doing this for everybody though!) On top of that, he is charging me $40 less than the quote at $360. The other quote I got was for $1100. That is for a chaser/tarago modded converter, rebuilt furnace blazed etc. and stall speed of 4000rpm. Can’t recommend him enough. Anyone wanting cheap good work with bloody good service, Peter is the guy you should see.

Well the one he modded for me is a jzx81 converter and is going in my jzx90 engine. I did a bit of research and it seems that they should be fine. I wouldn’t think they would change the input spline between different cars with the same engine.
If it helps Ben, when I get around to swapping my new converter in I can give you the number off my jzx90 converter.
