Do we check the transmission oil level while the engine running?

Or while the engine is switched off?

Doesn't it have a hot and cold level, I'm pretty certain it does. Also your suppose to start it, run it thru all the gears so oil goes into the torque convertor to get the right levels.

yeah it does have 2 levels (cold and hot)

have to look very carefully at the stick to see the cold level thou.

Also on getting it warm, take it for a 15minute drive. Doesn't need to be hard. It will be warmed and you will get an accurate reading.

Cold level is a guide for when draining the refilling the sump. Still have to check when hot.

I've found it to be pretty much spot on when hot if filled with new fluid using the cold mark.
