i am havin problems with my new gear box shifting from 2nd to third when i put my foot down, it kicks back to second from third; once its in second it will only rev out to 4500rpm to 5000rpm and then change to third and same with third to OD. I have checked to see if its the emanage but that is ok and all is correctly wired even tripple checked it. I have called Mike at MV autos and he suggested to put LED's across wire S1, S2 he said they were the solinoides for the some shifting or other??? has anyone else had this problem or know what could be causing this and maybe how to diagnose it easier than what mike has suggested... Please help i am really boggled i have called earl in lilydale and he just suggested to bring it over but still he was not sure, and i dont want this to become a very constly excercise.

Look in the TC lockup thread. I put the instructions for the MV auto box which tell you where the solenoid wires are. I don't actually know why it would be shifting early though? You would need to know exactly what input sensors are used to determine why it is shifting early. Have you checked for any codes in the ECT?

thanks heaps guys for you responses much appreciated, i have had a mechanic to hook up a scanner to check for errors and there wasnt any which doenst really mean much i guess it eliminates one section. Peter yeah it all makes sense when i saw the other thread about installing a manual shift box, to see which is one and at what sequence i guess,i am just not sure which wire is the s1 and s2 on the ecu and how to locate it have any idea or diagrams please

No the ecu switches 12v through them to turn them on. If you put an LED between each wire then you should be able to see when the solenoids are being switched. Just make sure that the LED can handle the current.

Well I don’t know exactly but if it only does it in drive then that leads me to believe that is something to do with the sensors the ecu is receiving. If it was mechanical it would do it when he shifts manually as well. But if you have checked for errors and there isn’t any then I am stumped. Your fluids are fresh and full?
