Take it back and tell them. Could be just a temperamental switch.

The solenoid would give error codes but an intermittent switch would not.

Khalid, start at the button on your shaft.
(That should get a response from CD).

I don't even want to think about that one

Take the shifter lever off and stick a bit of bare wire in the contacts for the o/d switch.

Mine does the same thing - some days it has a mind of it's own. Sometimes works, sometimes does not. I replaced the whole mechanism with the buttons on it and have new solenoids and it made no difference. Some days it even shifts by itself -makes for interesting driving... I will be swapping transmissions soon so I'll see if that helps - otherwise it must be switch / wiring / computer - related.

Little black speed sensor. Passengers side of box, up high and close to engine. Two 10mm head bolts and pull it out. No oil loss.

Should be a little black cylinder about 19mm diameter x 28mm long. Throw it over the right shoulder and source another one to replace it.

Common fault. Generally the OD light will come on but it won't shift into OD. Some times the light blinks.

My mate's 1JZ won't shift into OD at all, swapped ECUs with mine for testing purposes, and turns out that his ECU was crook. Might pay to check yours, esp for leaking capacitors.

Idea ... Sounds like the transmission solenoid is cactus!

Not all that uncommon.
