Can someone tell me what the part number is for this item please.
It's the drive gear for the speedo sensor.

This is the culprit for my speedo not functioning.
I also discovered that I can only spin my fingers at 17 kph.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Sean

Yep, that's the one.
Rear left of the gearbox on the extension housing.
Sits just above the gearbox mount.
12mm socket to remove the bolt that holds it in.
In the kit I got from Mr T was the gear assembly and the 'O' ring seal.

I was actually wondering why it's made from plastic.
It would make sense to get something machined from metal as a more permanent solution, unless it's a common issue and a metal speedo drive gear would damage the gear inside the gearbox that drives it.

Apologies for dragging up an old thread but this little bugger has failed AGAIN.

I'm wondering how many times those of you who have had their car for a few years have had to replace this cog, cause it seems a tad odd that the teeth strip off inside 12 months.

I forgot to mention,
You will find the driver gear in the trans is all rusty and its wearing out the plastic driven gera.

Extension housing OFF, slide off gear, sand it up, replace. ( Or put a newy in there )

Ahhhhh.
A good sanding with wet'n'dry should spiff it up.
Doubt a new one would be required, unless it's a common issue.

Is there a trick to getting these back in?.... I just tried to put mine back in after inspecting the nylon gear (stripped) and had trouble getting it to go all the way back in flush!... Now I have broken the cast mount. Spewin!... Ill have to try get another sensor unit!!! Also im presuming I cant drive it until the sensor is back in or Ill loose my trans oil..... Is that right?

Is this unit available in other sizes/ratios for tyre size/diff ratio changes?

Or could you add a resistor to correct the speedo? Im out by enough to get me into strife regularly.
