I had the same issue, it would shift down really harshly as I rolled to the lights. Mainly happened if I'd just been giving the car some right foot action. Felt as if you were in a manual car, downshifting to first and letting the clutch out too quickly.
I bought a different tranny cooler and made it so the lines aren't pushing the fluid uphill too much. It might have been caused by a restrictive tranny cooler too, but the old one was much thicker so I'm not sure if that was the cause.
Adjusting the kickdown/line pressure cable didn't have any effect for me.
I was amazed by the difference! I need a new trans mount too though I reckon.
My theory is that the tranny's fluid pump couldn't push the fluid up through all those lines and the cooler, and was starving the transmission when you were giving it some stick, maybe flinging vital fluid away from the 1st gear area.

OI i was listening today to my new diff and every time I put it in reverese or into gear it would clunk doesn't do it now the diff center has been changed.
Unsure if it done it while driving as I couldn't hear it over the exhaust.
I'm thinking drop the diff oil and count how many teeth come out.
That is the damage that I had caused (After about 220km's of driving home) But I didn't take it easy.
