I was looking at getting a shift kit but then I came across the Suprastick auto trans controller. Is the Suprastick an alturnative to getting a shift kit or is it better to have both? One of the main reasons I wanted a shift kit is because it strengthens the gear box.
Also is the Suprastick all I need to run a Power FC??

Has anyone here installed there own Suprastick? Is it just plug and play??

From my chatting to power train solutions in the USA who have a a340e automatic transmission controller, speeding up shifting times electrically is no were near that of speeding up the shift mechanically, so unfortunately to have the best solution, you'll need both a shift kit (mechanical changes) and a suprastick or powertrain solutions tcu (electronic changes). Most people however just use a shift kit.

For interesting reading about performance tranny work (like that done by MV Automatics), here are some useful US websites. I've got a tranny overhaul near the top of my list of to-dos !

By the way, I have a PDF article about bulletproofing the A341 tranny, done by Level 10. How can I attach this or upload it to the forum??

Thanks!

Mechanical modification involves changing the shift dampers, replacing them with stiffer items and shims or plain metal blocks.

Thats where most of the shift time is lost.

Unfortunately with the standard ecu controlling the shifts, there is still ignition retard on changes. Once its manualised, there is no retard and it delivers full power to the wheel's through the shift, good for that 10th you may need to brake the 12s mark with stockies.

Don't you still need the Stock ECU to control the dash?

Yeah, but you use the aftermarket Ecu for the Engine, and the Suprastick for the Auto .

Better off with one of Cam's manual shift boxes . Easy to wire in, no need to fudge around with speed sensor signal imperfections causing rev limiter shifts . Suprastick isnt foolproof, the manual shift box is ;)

Yes but if you know how to really use the suprastick it can outperform the stock AT ecu but I doubt many people will take the time to or gain the knowledge to fully appreciate what it's capable of doing. The other problem with cams shift box is actually obtaining one. I've emailed him several times with no reply, hence why I will be purchasing a suprastick.

Ahh, didnt realise there was an issue Sebastian ...

The issue with the suprastick is the lack of pulses per second from the factory speed sensors , which makes the gear shift points sometimes very eratic .

I know Ben B ended up using an ABS sensor as it was pulsing something like 24 times per second compared to 2 . Then it was good to set up .

SOmething like that anyways, i would contact Ben Burgess mate . He set his up, decent guy, if not too busy, should be able to help .

Which Shift box are you after ?

Yeah, I read quite a few old threads and Ben Burgess seems to be the most knowledgable person to talk to and luckily for me he's in NSW. I was after the drag spec from Cam but luckily for me he didn't reply to my emails which forced me to look for other options.

Tom, if I were you I'd get a shift kit and a shift box from Cameron Laufer. The shift kit will make the gear changes much quicker putting less stress on the gear box but the down side is that it puts more stress on the diff but probably not really an issue.
A shift box manualises your box making it possible to hold it in any gear you choose. Great for dyno tuning as it makes it possible to tune right through the rev range.

Here's Cam's for sale thread.
