hey can anyone help me out, I have got a TT soarer with a holden trimatic in it, and for the past couple days i think my transmission has been slipping. My 1st gear seems to be perfectly normal, when i change to second it takes about 10 seconds to change gears, and when i change to 3rd gear, its as if i have no power. I have to hold it at 4000 rpm jus to keep the speed i want. I think i need a transmission reconstruction, but if anyone has any clue, i would love to hear it. Thanks

i asked my mechanic if thats what i should do, and they told me the best thing to do was to have the transmission reconstructed, i think im just going to do that

Whats this Holden crap in our cars, trimatic? What a waste of time, money and brain cells.
The a340 is far smoother, its electronic and has an extra gear. You can get a manualised controller box for 190 bucks and get rid of that clunky piece of $hit.
Better yet, get a SupraStick controller and have both auto and manual mode at your discretion.
Relax im not having a go at you. Nice looking car mate

I gotta agree, spazmatics are torana and H- whatever kingswood autos. Clunky, slow, prone to heat issues, but when built for race applications, are quite good; you'll see stacks of drag cars runing built trimatics.
But vs a a340e?
My thoughts are that whoever worked on the engine really had no idea about transmissions. I mean, if they did, the first thing they would have done is retained the a340e. perhaps the motor on the car orginally died, and a 1jz from a torana retrofit (with spasmatic) came up at an unbeatable price (like, free?)
Otherwise, theres just ZERO reason to go to the trouble of a CRS bellhousing and kit.
Theres are used a340e's going for as low as $150. Build prices vary. I've doen what Cihan sugested and ordered a Suprastick a little while ago. Now i just need to find a nice steering with buttons for the sequential setup, or find a 'paddle' shift boss.

Sounds like you do need a rebuild, since it is a piece of holden junk (sorry hate australian cars) it will be somewhat cheaper for you to have done plus the potential for strengthening the tri-matic is HUGE. Go onto like a Torana forum or similar and start asking people from your local area where they got their tri-matics built and who they would recommend. I know of a good mob up here in Brisbane however I am dead sure their is one of similar quality closer to you.
