I picked up a solenoid for $40 from MV Automatics. Yet to change it, but can anyone confirm if I need to replace a gasket at the same time? And how much oil will I need?

No Gasket, use Triple Bond instead.

Might as well flush the gearbox, allow about 12 litres for the flush.

SO what happened with this? I am getting a code 62 as well. And my car feels like someone is holding a clutch half in while I start out. Its not until I get into second gear that the car starts to move. But its sluggish to down shift as well when I really step on it.

I was reading somewhere else that a clogged solenoid would also throw the same code. SOmetimes in the mowrning when I first start car and go for a drive it shifts nice and smooth. Which makes me think its not failed completly. Is there a good way to clean these out? I just changed the fluid and threw in some tranny additive. Should I let that run through it for a bit first? I also changed the filter thinking that was the only problem.

If the tranny ends up going I am going to see about getting a front cut from anything with the 1JZ and a manual tranny and do the whole 5 speed swap.
