gidday have a 1jz in a vl and i have just got it wired up from an auto lecky and every time you shift from park to drive through neutral it will stall and then when you go back to park it will stall too.

the auto lecky said that there is something wrong with the gbox and not his wiring.

has any one heard of this problem??

i am using a pro ratchet shifter insted of the normal shifter if that can make any problems.

any advice or help would be great

Botched wiring on the Shifter switch, or faulty switch.

Both park and neutral have wiring positions for starting the car. Should also keep the ignition alive ...

For it to stall the car, I imagine that wherever this wire goes, once the engine is running, the wire that allows you to start the car is actually looking into a short circuit.

The odd thing is, you can obviously start the car ... points to a wiring issue beyond the relay box ...

I had EXACTLY the same prob in my car. I never figured out exactly what it was I done that fixed it. You see I totally ignored the selector switch when it came to ignition wiring yet it still done it. IE the feeds to the ECU did not even go to the switch. So could not have been loosing power or shorting etc. This also meant I could start the car in any gear as well. I then wired in the selector switch to the ECU inputs for REVERSE, 1ST and 2ND. This meant I could manually select gears properly but the stalling prob persisted.

I believe the ECU was detecting something was wrong and momentarily cutting the ignition. If I revved the engine then went into N or P it would nearly conk out but if there was still enough RPM there it would fire again without stalling.

There are also 2 contacts that are only made in N and P on the switch. I wired my starter circuit though them so the car could only start in P and N. I also set my TPS voltage to 0.5 volts at the same time as I done this. Whatever happened the prob was gone. I am still at a loss to explain what happened. I cant see how wiring in the start circuit through those contacts could have done anything to help the prob. All I done was feed the starter sol wires through the switch. Its only live for second when you crank and I am pretty sure the contacts are separate from any other wiring on the car.

thanks for the advice. im going to have to take it back to the auto lecky and get him to wire it like yours and will see if that sorts the problem out.

if any one else knows why the car is doing this it would be a great help to know what is playing up.
