Yeah it'll modify the shift speed, but its not a shift kit like what MV do, but has some things the same. All his really doing for this mod is to increase the spring tension by shimming the spring so it shifts quicker and harder and increased the line pressure, again to make it shift harder. MV do this, but they do it correctly by modifying the valve body. The MV kits you replace the valve body as well as the springs with much higher spring rates.
I wouldn't know exactly how hard this mod would smash into gears, so unless you feel like stuffing around with the settings which I can tell you, pulling the valve body off is not a nice job seeing as you'll be covered in transmission oil, then could be best to just buy a known combo from MV autos that works, and has 3 stages to suit just about anyone.

the retarding is the engine retarding so if you have an aftermarket ecu it won't do it at all. You could have the stock ecu controlling auto and it wouldn't fart anymore.
I just thought that maybe I didn't tighten the "kickdown" cable enough. I will check that and retest.

Tightening the "kick down" cable will increase the normal running pressure accross the entire valve body as the pressure regulator plunger will now always be partially depressed.
If you want even more pressure, you'll have to get a shift kit as these have the pressure increased inside the valve body by changing the regulator springs. Any experience auto transmission shop will be able to up the pressure.

You wouldn't happen to have a tute for how you upped the pressure? I want to increase mine even more as I've got slippage when gears initially change but not during normal running.

I thought as much. Just want to get as much life out of the box as it is before having it rebuilt. If it lasts long enough, I'll be able to afford a manual conversion.
