My aircon compressor runs all the time and does not cut in and out when i have the aircon on. Is this normal on 93 TT's?

I read somewhere that the compressors do run all the time even during heating to de-humidify (when set to auto), and that the tx valve regulates gas flow. Can someone shed some light on this?

Is there anyone that can recommend a good aircon guy in Perth? I have had my compressor replaced, and Hr12 put in the system about a year ago, but it really struggles to get cold when the cab is warm.

What should i be seeing in the sight glass when the aircon is running? I see a golden liquid constantly running, is this right? or should it be bubbles?

Cheers,

Cliff

Nope........bubbles are a sign that your A/C's gotta leak and/or needs re-gassing.

Dunno bout the other questions though, but a knowledgeable dude should be along shortly to get you sorted

The A/C doesn't run all the time unless you have it set to auto.

Check under the bonnet, the A/C pulley will be turning as it's driven by the belt, but the centre hub only turns when the A/C is actually running due to an electronic clutch.

Possable cause.
Spacer washer was left out when AC replaced..
Its located behind the outer disc.

HR12... Use of a Blended Gas WILL fail on hot days.
Why didnt you just get R134a in it ??

Bubbles are allowed with R134a :-) Do NOT use the sight glass when running it..

I will check that one out Peter. I can hear the clutch engage and the revs increase a bit and thats how it stays. Doesnt sounds like it disengages. Cheers Don for your help!
I do remember an article somewhere about aircon compressors in the soarer running constantly.I could be wrong though. Would be interesting to see how other TT owners Aircon compressors run.

Yeah Neil, the aircon compressor will disengage if I turn the aircon off. It just doesnt cut in and out like a conventional system whilst I have it on.
The guys that fitted the compressor said that HR12 would be better suited as it doesnt run at the higher pressure like R134a. And
I think there was less to do ( if anything ) in the way of conversion for HR12.
