Hey I took the soarer into Pedders to get the steering pump replaced (was the hose had cracked) and also to get new front end wheel bushes, anyways I get the car back 7 days later than what I was told, only to find out had a nice miss about it so I knew they'd degressed the engine bay that dried out and ran fine, I got out the car locked it and heard no beep, so I popped the bonnet and turned the siren key thing and nothing, took it to Autobarn and they said it'd been flooded with water, went back to pedders and he went half way in a 96 dollar siren not happy there, then driving the next night turn the aircon to about 26deg and i was still freezing my ass off, so I turn it to flat out hot and still cold air coming out.
What can cause this?? Like is it related to the degressing of the engine bay as I feel as if they have flooded it (especially to stuff an alarm siren which is up the very rear of the engine bay)
I haven't had time to get it into a air con place and some info from here would be appreciated as I go field on Monday and leave for Darwin on Friday or Saturday.

Sensor in the dash for cabin air temp. Behind a little 1cm square grille jut right of the console. Wiring is short and easily disconnected accidentally.

Yes left knee and No. The one that everyone that gets in the car for the first time says "what's that for?" and you don't know It is also in a trim panel that goes behind the console. The console MUST be at least loosened, or taken out for the cautious, to get that trim panel out or you WILL break it. These panel most often get broken trying to fix this aircon sensor. Take the panels off under the dash on the drivers side and get at it that way. The grille just clips in the hole in the panel.
If there's no heat that's different again. The lack of control is the sensor but lack of heat could be the solenoid heater valve which is common too. Or the VSV valve itself. (passenger firewall engine side near ABS if fitted. The solenoid valve are not critical at all and ones that will work are found just about everywhere from Corollas on up. Some auto parts places carry a cheap generic one that's fine here. You can test by connecting the vacuum lines together without the solenoid. If the heater then works that's your problem.

Can also be caused by very low coolant levels in the 1UZ-FE. Even if the engine isn't overheating it'd pay to check your coolant level at the thermostat plug.

You're right Mark, when it happened to me, I was freezing because it was mid winter in Ballarat and the heater wouldn't work because the vacuum line was disconnected
