My air con is not working at all, push button light comes on and nothing, engine idle does not change at all.Does this mean i need a re gassing or is it stuffed, the rad was replaced before i bought the car so i dont know if that is a factor. Its starting to get hot over here and i would really appreciate any help

It sounds like the gas has leaked out, but have someone find and fix the leak or regassing is only a temporary fix. One common leak, is an O-ring at the front. Shine a torch in through the front grille and if things look a bit oily on the passengers side, it is the O-ring leaking. It is a simple and easy (low cost) fix.

it could be out of gas but you'll need someone with all the gear to check it first, well thats the law but you could just look around all the pipes and compressor(should be called a pump cause nothing gets compressed) for oil and even the condenser some times you might find something. Just keep in mind that the people that do air cons should always check it over for all the leaks before they can re-gas, its a law.
air con quotes can get a bit steep, tho will normally have a warranty to that shop if it doesn't work.
oh! just remembered if you can see any stickers in the engine bay about uv dye then wait till night and get a black light.
just keep in mind that you'll have to see an auto electrician or air con place to fix it and re-gas, and they'll check it all over anyway(or should) by law.

as peter said compressor wont turn on without any head pressure.
and its never just needs to be regassed, it'll have a leak. take it to an aircon place and get a quote which wont cost much, then deppening on what it'll cost to fix is your choice to pay or not really.

If the gas pressure drops, the compressor won't switch on. Toyota smarts.
Really?? I had a slow leak about 3 years ago, and when I turned on the a/c it blew hot air, but the compressor still kicked in putting a drain on the engine. I had to eventually replace the whole system for $1600 USD!!
