Apropos of which, I've often wondered if it's possible to have a switch linked to the kick-down function of the trans, so that if you're running with the A/C on, and (for whatever) reason need MAX performance, it cuts the A/C off for the duration of kick-down, thereby giving you optimum performance .
One of the Mitsi Gallant imports we had featured this, but possibly because it was only an 1800cc engine, and needed all the help it could get during full throttle applications.
Easy way to check, idling your engine, just put your temperature to heating, then press AC and see if your revs change... then just keep turning the temp down and see when it kicks in. I might try it after work.
Well the original question asks if it only draws power on cooling and if at other times (meaning heating) it doesn't? Cihan answered yes but you are saying no Peter. So I figured u can easily check which is the case...
