Isnt it the Temp sensor? for 93 models onwards? so u can see the degrees on your dash next to the clock....Air con sensor is on the passenger side dash board...thats what i was always lead to believe?

The A/C has different sensors. The one above is to measure external air temperature and is used to help decide if the climate control should open the vent or recirculate. Likewise the internal temperature sensor in front of the drivers left knee.
The sensor on the dash decides if the car is in direct sunshine, and if so, tends to boost the cooling up a notch.
