I got the A/C regassed last week, but it leaked out in a matter of days. Took the car back today and they've found the leak on a hose which is connected to a small auxiliary motor?!?! Apparently it's not the compressor, but a small motor in-line with the hose. The hose is being taken off, but even the mechanic's aren't sure who to go to to get it fixed, they're going to send the hose to Highgate (Automotive A/C specialists).

Just wondering if anyone has any idea which hose and small auxiliary motor they're referring to, and where's a good place to get a replacement hose or to get it repaired?

Thanks for any help!

Go to any ENZED store, Pirtek or any other hose and fittings shop. They will be able to make you up one in about ten minutes, if they can't, they don't know what they're doing.

Fair enough, the mechanic's weren't sure if ENZED could help or not. I figured it's just a hose, surely one can be made up of the same dimensions?

Does anyone know what this 'small auxiliary motor' that it's attached to could be?

Cheers

Don,

I haven't seen the part described or the hose yet (I'm stuck at work, will be checking it out tomorrow afternoon). I'll try to get a picture of it tomorrow when I see it though, I just thought someone might know what this motor thingy is by my not so great description.

What is the part circled in the picture? If it's that part, then apparently the leak is coming from the hose attached to it!

Cheers

Pressure Regulator Assembly.

Could be mistaken for a "Motor" to the uninitiated.

Part number is: 88503- 24050, & is only available as a complete assy (no repair kit) for MAJOR bucks.

The diaphragm inside splits and/or the "O" ring inside leaks.

Contact Neil or one of the Soarer experts for possible "Repair" advice (much cheaper!)

Just about to head home from work, I'll have to contact Neil to see what advice he can offer (unless you read this first Neil and can offer your advice through here! )

Cheers

Is the pressure regulator assembly also the compressor slip sensor, or is that something different again?

Cheers

How much was it Tim?

Mine needs replacing as well, and Toyota NZ want $963(NZD) Ex Japan for one!!!!!!!

I'm tinking it would be cheaper to get one from Oz.

ps: sent an email to James Sloane at Castle Hill Toyota, but haven't heard anything

Neil's told me a way to do a fix up on my old one, but if NEW ain't too $$$$$$, I'd rather buy a replacement.

Well, I called Castle Hill Toyota and they quoted me $900ish ex Japan, then I called CMI Toyota here in Adelaide and they quoted $850ish ex Japan. However, the assembly was sent by my mechanic to Highgate Air-con here in Adelaide, and they managed to source the part, including mounting bracket, for only $390+GST, and it was in the country...I don't know from where, or how they managed that price, but I jumped at it!

If you need one, I can get back in touch with the guy I dealt with and confirm that they can get more at that price.

Thanks for the offer Tim but I'll have a go at repairing me old one if it's not too much drama.

The hardest part is getting the ABS unit out of the way to access the regulator
, but Neil's given me a few tips on how to do it

Gawd, I hope my aircon doesn't pack up, seems like nothing on them is cheap to fix, and I wouldn't be without it with the summer we are having!
