will need a regas. also, you need to check that the electric fan in front of the radiator is still working. my one wore out its brushes recently and the aircon guy said that this fan is key in removing heat from the system.

I had my seized Compressor replaced, Quoted $3,000 for a New one, or $500 for S/Hand + Fitting. I went the second hand one, it lasted less than 4 weeks. Now I am told that the Compressor is not working. Now quoted $700 to build a "new" one, using (I think) the internals from a Magna Compressor.

I can put you in touch with the Ice Tiger in Gympie he does rebuilt units [ mine and three others have been in for over 6 mths now ], take in mind that he is only 2 hours away from Brisbane , he will do the whole lot , problem is that now a compressor has failed you need to remove the evaporator from under the dash to clean it out and possibly fit a new TX valve at the same time seeing as the evaporator has to be removed to get at the TX valve . The whole system will need flushing out , prob is you can't flush past the TX valve unless you remove it , THAT is why your S/H compressor failed , when you seized the first compressor not all the crap was removed from the system , soooo in a very short period of time that crap in the system destroyed the second compressor . He owns a C/F package Celsior himself and is an older guy who has his own shop , he is very particular and the three people I know who have made the trip up there for their air con service have been very pleased , not only with the job but also with the cost . He is one of the few air con people I know who does it properly , for instance he replaces EVERY " O " ring along the way , I know of one other like minded air con guy in Brisbane but he cost's at least twice as much . Let me know if you want to be put in contact with him .

Pete up in Gympie can do a brand new compressor for about $800.00 , he would just need some of the ancillery bits from your old compressor . He wouldn't fit it with out removing the evaporator as if you don't you'll just destroy the new compessor as well .For a new compressor and a total strip and regas new dryer etc etc , would be no more than $1200.00 to $1500.00 .
