The other day i tried adjusting the fan speed with the heater on and it appears to be stuck on the lowest level.

When i press the fan speed button the indicator on the A/C display moves up and down but the flow rate of air coming from the vents doesn't change at all.

Anyone had this problem? or know the cause/solution?

Sounds like the transistor or resistor module in the fan box has gone.

The resistor module controls low speed and the transistor module controls high speed.

These are located in behind the glovebox. The resistor is easy to get to but the transistor will require removal of the ECU cover.

Thanks Matt, are these both located in the cooling Fan box?

I have located the fan box by taking off the glovebox but where is the transistor module located?

I know its a very late reply

Yep they are both in the fan assembly. Both have a set of wires running to them so you should be able to find them that way.

The transistor module is tucked way underneath at the back against the firewall. To get mine out I had to remove the false floor to allow me to get a small screw driver in there. Refitting is a PITA.

Problem solved, was the Transistor module as Matt pointed out.

Some pics for anyone digging up this thread in the future.

The offending Transistor module, located just above the ECU cover towards the firewall.

The car now all fixed and the temp parts car i stole the new transistor from in the garage

Thanks to Matt for the advice it saved me a lot of time in labour if I were to get an auto elec to source the problem

Thanks for the pics Kyle as I have the same problem but for the last fan setting and then it's flat out.
Where did you get your replacement parts from to fix it and what did it cost you?

If it goes on flat out then in theory it's the resistor module, the transistor module controls the high speed and the resistor the low speed.

When I was trouble shooting my high speed only fault I got second hand parts from a JZZ30 and swapped them in. You want to stay close to the same year as there was a wiring change in about 94 I think.
