I've looked through the threads to see if anyone has had a similar problem to what I have, but couldn't come up with anything (or didn't look hard enough...)

Anyways this is the situation:

the whole HVAC system of the car seems to be ok (ie air flow, temp control and all the other buttons are working fine), however, whatever setting i put the a/c on, either hot or cold it blows out the same air, same temp... BUT with the a/c off I do get radiant heat coming from the vents which eventually warms up the car and by that time I've arrived at my destination. At one stage I was hearing a 'water leaking' sound coming from behind/below the glove compartment area (evaporator??), but I don't hear that anymore.

If anyone knows a similar thread or has experienced this situation and can provide some advice it would be much appreciated.

From my limited knowledge Hakan I think you might either need to re-gas the air con system or it might be your compressor that needs replacing. Same thing happened to me just after I got my UZZ31, I re-gassed it, still couldn't get hot or cold air, so then I replaced the compressor and it's been great since (about 3 years now). I'm sure someone else will either back me up or provide a better explanation, but if it is your compressor, make sure you get a 2nd hand one as new OEM ones are ridiculously expensive. Mine was $50 off ebay and still going strong!

Thanks for your reply Keenan.

It would be nice to know the role that each AC component plays and be able to deduce the cause of the problem from there.

A friend of mine said that if you're hearing water leaking sounds its most likely a crack in the evaporator.... but I don't know...

Probably should just get it checked by an AC specialist.

Any other advice or recommendations of AC specialists (inner melbourne) would be appreciated.
