Does anyone know if you can get rid of the factory fan assembly that sits in front of the condenser for the air conditioning and replace it with a thermo fan of equal size? Just a thought as I hate when the factory one kicks in, its loud, and I would like something quiet like the aftermarket fan. Has anyone done it?

Unfortunately there is a pretty close relationship between noise and the volume of air that a fan is able to shift.

I wouldn't want to downgrade any of the fans to lower performing units just to make the car a bit quieter.

Hi
I recently (a month ago) replaced the stock NipponDenso fan with a Davies Craig 14" unit from MALZ (the new Marlows).

Unfortunately, if you want quiet, you probably won't get it. The replacement fan makes about as much noise, but it 'sounds like' it is moving more air (it is a slightly larger fan also).

The A/C condenser gets *very* hot (after all, it needs to dissipate heat from the cabin). The more airflow over it the better, and the electric fan is supposed to provide some airflow whilst the car is stationary.

Since replacing mine, the A/C stays cold when I'm stuck in traffic and not moving much.
