hi all.

i am about to replace a leaky ac compressor on my '91 TT.

had it regassed and it lasted 2 days :-(
the main leak (there are 2) is from the clutch end of the compressor. the second is on the condenser.

the condenser leak is an easy fix, just a new oring.
but the compressor needs to be replaced.

my question is can the compressor be removed from underneath ? or will the power steer pump need to be removed too ?

I removed mine from the top. I had to undo the passenger side engine mounts and jack the left side of the motor up about an inch to get it off the 4 inch stud. Otherwise not too hard. Others have removed this stud (it screws into the block) but I have tried that on two different cars and not been able to budge it.
