MY aircon light flashes and aircon doesnt work. mech says compressor, i think it just needs a regas, but it is intermitent. also the accessories belt needs doing on the car, able to link me to a how to and a belt size?
is lpg safe to use in the system? how do i check the compressor oil? any help would be fantastic, i got a quote of $1200 and 3 days for new compressor and install, if i can fix or gas nmyself i would be most grateful for your support

you could probably get it cheaper by having the compressor reconditioned. New compressors from Toyota are about $1400, after market ones are around the $900 mark. A recon should be about $600, maybe less depending on what needs to be done to it.

Hi Hayley, same thing has happened to me. Got a $50 2nd hand compressor off ebay and it lasted me 2 years. Now I'm having the same compressor rebuilt/reconditioned, as Brenton suggested above, for around $300-400. Definitely the cheaper option to go with!

Do the accessories belt first, you might find it's the slip sensor in the compressor due to a worn belt.
Take the old belt off by using a 14mm socket or spanner on the tensioner and turn in counter clockwise to take the slack off the belt. Make sure the belt diagram is still on the bonnet before removing belt as it can be tricky to figure out the routing :-)
Take old belt to autoparts store as a precaution. It should be an off the shelf part at most places.
