Hey All,

I have major problems with my AC. I got a new aftermarket compressor fitted in September 2008, and I only managed to use it a few times before it started making a horrible noise. Turns out that the condenser unit should have been replaced also. I was lucky because the manufacturer covered the compressor under warranty.

Does anyone know where to source an new aftermarket condenser from? I have been quoted around the $1200 for and original part from Japan and a two week wait for it by Lexus. That's quite pricey seeing as I have already paid around the same amount to get the new compressor.

My auto electrician has already sourced an aftermarket one for around $600 however this was the wrong unit and it did not fit on the car.

If anyone has any information for me that would be much appreciated.

Hey All,

Just rang Castle Hill Toyota, they quoted me a price much cheaper than $1200, probably be just under $800 by the time I get it to Melbourne and a three week wait.

Still keen to hear from anyone here before I purchase it.

I'd keep looking for a 2nd hand one Gary! Check out wreckers and also see if your mechanic can source a 2nd hand one for you. I've been using a 2nd hand compressor for the whole time I've had my car (4-5yrs) and it works like a treat, only $50 off ebay! Good luck with it all mate.

Hi Keenan,

If I used a 2nd hand condenser I would void the warranty on the new compressor according to the manufacturer of the compressor. I did have a look on ebay but there were only a few used condensers which looked to be in horrible condition.

Thanks for you suggestion.
Gary
