i got a $4000 quote to fix my air con the dude said that i needed a condenser a compressor and an evaporator. will 2nd hand parts last long or will i have to get them replaced shortly down the road too ??

Nathan, Seems alittle expensive. I recently had similiar work done to my v8,cost half that amount. Biggest cost apart from compressor is the labour to take system apart and flush every little compressor shard out. Seems false economy to spend all that money on labour then to have 2nd hand compressor seize and stuff system again. Best shop around for prices.

Well I don't know about a 2nd hand condenser or evap but I got a 2nd hand compressor for my V8 off ebay for $50 and it lasted me 3 yrs. Just had to change it last month, and this time still a 2nd hand compressor but for around the $200 mark. And yes, the labour can get up there as it is a bit of an effort to get them out.
If you can get them 2nd hand, in good working order and cheap enough, I'd go with the 2nd hand parts.

$4000!!! my goodness. Chronic rip. I was quoted $400 for fitment, flushing, regas, the whole lot. Dont let them fool you in thinking you need more crap than you need.
