Hi all, can anyone tell me if the heater core on a 91 UZZ31 is plastic tanks on an aluminium core, or is it brass tanks and core? Also where is the best place to get one? I would rather have one ready to put in when I pull the dash out, than leave it a week or two while I chase one up and then forget where half the stuff goes on reassembly. I checked at my local toyota dealer on part number 87107-24050 and they told me $690.

Thanks for any help that may come my way. Peter.

I purchased a second hand heater core from a fellow SC member, core looked good, but I didn't want to chance it. Took the heater core to my local radiator repairer and checked out the listing for Soarers, what is listed for soarers in his catalogue is wrong, in both shape and size.

After a few minutes of checking we found that a TR Magna replacement core measured up to exactly the same size as my s/h soarer core.

Ordered a new TR core on thursday and my heater core tanks were soldered to it and pressure tested, ready to pick up saturday morning. Total cost $199.10, heaps cheaper than a new toyota replacement ($690), and just as good.

Now all I need to do is swap it over, any volunteers?

Good luck with that Peter, as I said before if you have a problem, you have my ph no, and I will help if I can.

Didnt think you would change that core over though, I thought it was in pretty good nick.

Thanks Paul, not sure when I'll do it, might wait for beer drinking weather to arrive.

I thought for 200 bucks, that I'll never have to take the whole dash out again, it's probably good insurance, even though the core you sent me was in good nick.
