Hey, i just purchased a 1991 V8 soarer and was wondering if it was normal that it runs quite cold on the highway? If not, what could be the problem and how would i go about fixing it?

Note:
*The temp guage reads just under half way in town traffic.

*The car takes a good 10 minutes to reach optimum temp in town traffic.

EDIT:
Also, my stock TV screen is just blank, as in, it lights up but there is no writing on it so cant do anything with it, and, the stock CD/tape player isnt hooked up, could these be related and does anyone know a good place in New Zealand (north island) i could take it to get the screen fixed?

Thank you

Replace the thermostat, look under "Basic Maintenance".

Thanks, but is it necessarily a bad thing that it runs a bit cold on the highway? It seems to be ok in town

The car will run richer and waste fuel etc.

So it's not a good thing.

It can also wear faster because it does not warm the oil fast enough, although this problem is not as bad as it once was, thanks to multigrade oils.

Cheap and easy fix too, you can do it yourself to save dollars.
