Jack I think with the unique nature of your car you're going to struggle to get an answer from this forum. You may want to go to a Soarer electrical specialist - the names escape me right now, but a search will help you.

i have tried swapping out climate controls between a 95 jzz31 and 91 jzz30. we experienced same symptoms in both cars (temp knob not working and static temp values). however they worked normal again when swapped back in.
when i quizzed this forum on this problem it was suggested its a differences between the 3 yrs.
so it may be that the climate control you are using is from a different year period to your car (91-94/95-96/97-99)

Try combining the 'brains' of the old unit with the 'face' of the new one. It's the incompatibility of the newer brains that cause the 'high fan only' problem. I had the same issue and this solved it. The a/c unit is in two parts, and two screws and a few clips is all it takes to seperate the halves. If you don't have the old unit, buy a an old model 'bleeder' cheaply from a wreckers (try Daniel Savage on this forum), split both units and install your newer face on the older brains. You can tell the difference quite easily - post 1994 units have a black rear part, while pre 1994 are white-ish.

yes i thought of that but i sold my old unit. but i could source another one .also im not sure if this is the problem as everything else works. my fan speed works perfect does that mean this isnt the problem?

to Start a new thread: scroll ALL the way down the bottom left.. click 'Start new thread'
regarding the temp control, we need more info about your car and what's been done to it. If it has been converted from EMV to NON-EMV, make sure the blue plug that leads to behind the glovebox is plugged in correctly. you'll need to pull out the glove box for this. (This could also be the original posters issue as well)

i didn't really see what the original guys solution was... and EMV? its a 1994 toyota soarer with a pioneer deck a axle back exhaust hks coils and works vs-xx wheels. again just to say this only started after the guy broke into my car... could the potentially damaged electrical component behind the knob be the problem? thanks
