I have just removed the emv from my 31 and fitted a standard climate control. I tested the system operation with a half dead climate control out of a wreck and it seemed to all work ok (I had the dash in a million pieces while doing this however). I have since fitted a climate control I bought of another forum member from his car that he wrote off that has been rebuilt and re assembled the rest of the car. The unit does everything it should except when you turn the fan on it runs flat out regardless of the setting. Has anyone run across this before. I am trying to work out if I have stuffed up with my wiring somewhere, if the climate control has a fault or if my car is just possesed. Before I pull a working climate control out of my other soarer and play swapsies I was just wondering if anyone has struck this problem before

I maybe wrong. But this sounds like a sensor somewhere in the system has not been plugged in.

My BMW 540i had a special component that regulated the air fan speed, when it was disconnected, the fan ran on maximum speed.

It could be a similar situation in your car.

Still, just wait and see if any other members have an educated idea of what maybe your cars problem.

What year is your's Brett?

If the later model climate unit is fitted to an early model it causes the fan to run at full speed all the time.

Matt.

Not sure exactly but I thought it was around mid 94.

Definitely after 93 as mine is a 93 and I used a 91 on mine.

Also note that the outside temp function on the dash is driven off the climate unit so the pov packs don't have it, and some have button beeps and some don't.

Matt
