Hey hey, started the car up today (its been sitting there for a couple weeks) and tried to use the aircon, no cold air was blowing out.
When I press the aircon button the car shudders a little, light stays on for 3 to 4 seconds, then the light starts pulsating, no cold air though.
So I tried it again, press the aircon button, once it starts flashing after 4 seconds of staying on I turn it off, then back on quickly, if I do this then I get the usual cold air after doing it for a minute. But I dont really think that I can drive while doing that
Two weeks ago the air con was working fine, no probs at all
Its a 31, converted from EMV to TT style climate control before I got it.

Hmm to answer my own question I just did a search on google, seems like the culprit may be that my ventilation filter in the cabin might be dirty, looks like I may have to use the tutorial and clean it out

Soaked mine in a bucket of warm water with washing-up detergent in it. They came out a pale shade of grey and the water was absolutely black, so I'd say, yes, they can be cleaned! Once they'd dried I sprayed them thoroughly with Glen-20 to try to get a better smell through the cabin than the typical tobacco smoke, and this was quite successful too. Doubt if I did any harm, as they've been good for four years so far! Little bit worried that you describe the car as shuddering - that makes me wonder if the problem isn't a faulty compressor, maybe about to seize. Might be good to get someone to start your car / turn on the AC while you're observing.

While they can be cleaned they still wont flow as much as a new one and for the cost of them I would just get some new ones and be done with it. Wether it will fix your problem or not is debatable, I am more inclined to agree with John on this one, going by the age of your car there is a big chance your compressor is on the way out...

Update: Cleaned the filters out with detergent, and yea John I had to wash them around 4 times as there was so much black dirt coming off them, but they ended up opaque grey.
Placed them in the car, started the A/C and voila! Aircon works wonders again, no shudder anymore and its still ice cold.

Yes, that's great! Really pleased cleaning worked well for you too. I must say I'm quite surprised that the air conditioning system was so markedly affected by dirty filters, but yes, very fortunate that it was not the compressor. Expensive and not that easy to replace.
