Has the car been repainted lately? Perhaps the dust is from the sanding?

haha, One day I turned on the air cond and it blew the white dust out... not drugs and not anthrax considering I am still straight and alive (it blew right into my face) ;)

not repainted, since then the air cond nor the demister nor heater works and no more white dust. just that once.

May have sucked in a filter... looks like I am going to have to take out the dash to have a look see... was hoping I could have avoided doing that.
Thanks :-)

Could just be a buildup of dirt over time, foam seals becoming old and releasing dust. The best thing to do would be to replace all the foam seals, replace the filter, remove the evaporator core and clean any leaves/dirt from it, but that takes a lot of work.

Probably should begin by replacing the filter which might be letting off dust.

Seriously don't waste your time removing the evaporator core and everything else until you work out whats working and what isn't.

If the fan/blower isn't turning chances are it's jammed up with something like a chunk of filter. You will need to remove the glovebox to access the fan and then you can spin the fan by hand to see if it spins freely. We once found a screwdriver stopping ours from working.
If it spins freely but doesn't work check the fuse that could have blown from the fan jamming.

I have had the same thing happen a couple of times when i've just turned the AC on. I turn it off for a bit and it goes away... still haven't got the foggiest idea of what caused it.

At least i know now someone else has had it happen.

Might sound a bit silly, but it isn't fog/snow is it? I have had this happen to me before. Air con worked too well, and it would usually stop being cool because it would block up after a while

The system should be shut off when the Thermistor detects that it's getting too cold in the evaporator, preventing it from freezing up.

If it's icing up, Could be related to the thermistor maybe, but I think it's worth to check the filter first.
