I have a 94 V8 GT-L, the previous owner changed the climate control unit before I purchased it. The fan only has 2 speeds 1,2,3 are slow and 4 is flat out, I have read the posts about the incompatibility between the year models, so am I to assume that the unit I have in my 94 is out of a earlier model?
or is it worth checking for a blown resistor?
If it is out of a earlier model, does anyone who has a later model unit in their pre 94 want to swap? mine is is good condition and I will replace the LEDS with new blue T5 wedges

I'm in a 91, and the climate unit I've just installed may have been from a later model, I'm having fan problems too. Just did the screen and leds etc so I'd be interested in swapping the back part of the unit if you can't find anything closer Ian.

Joe, I am pretty sure the 94> units are white on at the back and pre 94's are black so you should be able to tell just by looking at it, also they are different part numbers, sounds like a swap would solve the problem.

Hi Joe sounds like a good idea if we can swap the back part as it has just been pointed out that my screen looks like it might be starting to bleed, If you can tell me the part number I will pull mine out and have a look too

My part no: 55900-24070
I've searched toyodiy and google, and all I found was a bulb number common to all years, and too Russian sites that contradicted each other, one said 94-97, another 91-93. Heres a pic of mine:

Hi Joe, I have just been in contact with the previous owner of my car, who tells me he only changed the LCD not the complete unit, so my unit is the original one for a 94, which means my unit is either faulty, or I have a fault elsewhere.
However, I won a 91 unit with screen bleed on a auction site for .99c, but the owner is not responding to my emails, and they are a member of this site, If I can get it out of them, you can have it for nothing, I will even pay the postage to you

Sounds like the blower motor controller is gone. I had to replace it in my car when a screwdriver jammed the blower when I first bought the car and caused the module to cook. Make sure you get the one for the 94 onwards model as they are different to the older ones.
