Do you guys with the V8's have similar problem with interior heat, Aircon needs regassed, but on exterior air into car via button i still get warm air but inside of car up through centre is so hot, normal or not ??
Well to get to all these flaps you need to take the Dashboard out. I have had this problem when the foam seals crumble apart causing the hot air to get past them and warm the car up a little, but that was also due to the fact that my heater tap was constantly flowing more water than it should into the heater core when the flap wasn't open, so the problem could also be influenced by a heater core that is letting lots of water get into the heater core when it's shut (heater off).
Could also be a problem with one of the motors that has died, causing the heater flap to be open.
First you have to take your dash out to get easy access, from then you can begin doing your investigation, it's not a very straight forward fix as you have to find the problem first.
That's just a band-aid solution, problems with that are
It cost $150 To regas roughly. Our cars are very old and most likely have leaky parts in the A/C System, the gas will leak out quickly so your stuck with the problem again.

150 to regas? Where are you getting ripped of boris?
To get a regas here costs about 50 bucks, cost me 70 to get it converted to R145 gas and have my system regassed, cold as ice now
In regards to the hot air though, i would check everything else before diving into the dash mate, stuck open heater tap will cause hot air to constantly pass through the core.
If its happening on the non recurculating setting its possible your engine bay seal (the one that seals the engine bay from the intakes for the interior climate control system) is either not there from a previous owner or has deteriorated and you are now sucking in engine bay hot air.
Check these few things and see what you find mate.

Found the problem..on the left hand side behind glove box is the recirculation motor, it have over centred and needed a little persuasion to go back to its normal neutral position, she is all working again

Can someone in vic tell me where I can get my car regassed that won't charge an arm and a leg? I went to a place in geelong who were after $270 to convert it to R134a gas.
I would have done this much sooner if I realised it didn't cost that much..
