I am just curious if it is normal for my soarer to have the smell of petrol within the car with my windows fully winded down, the smell gets stronger when i rev harder.

Also, the driver's accelerator compartment will start to get warm as i drive.

Is there any major issues from these two highlighted points.

Not normal, you may have an exhaust leak at the manifold causing it to be sucked in through the vents, but if your smelling live fuel it could be a leaky fuel line somewhere.

I recall there was a problem with the tank Filler causing a problem with a fuel smell, search around there is a thread on it.

I have the same problem sometimes, I had to get my new fuel lines and I still have the problem sometimes. Get it checked. Mine only happens usually if i drove hard, or when i go on long drives. But yeah as I said, I have the same problem, the mechanic dude fixed the lines and its still like that, so when you find out let me know too

I had this problem when I had a restricted air filter. Some genius chose to replace the factory airbox with a pod filter, then shoved the pod filter inside as far as it would go on the pipe, so there was only a small area that the pod filter could suck through, I believe this caused the engine to run rich whether that was the case or not, I have no idea.

I had a smell of fuel inside the car, and anyway I noticed after fixing the restriction in the air filter, the smell went away.

Whether this was purely coincidental or not I have no idea, but it might be something to check.

I had the smell of fuel in my car too... turns out the jerry can for filling the boat had leaked onto the back carpet :-( At least it wasn't something expensive to fix I guess.

Damn, it must have taken time for the smell to go away?

Yeah, but it hadn't soaked thru the mat, so I just took the mat out and sprayed it with some fabreze and hung it on the line in the sun for a few days. Sorted.
