Thanks Boris, you've got to understand that i don't know much (if anything) about my A/C system, or what most of the parts are called.
The so called "valve" that needs to be replaced is near my compressor and is where you refill the system with new Gas or oil- whichever it is. The auto electrician said that this needs to be replaced. I'm not sure why.
Also i can't stay there and watch the whole procedure, as he said it would take 2.5 hours and i have school exams to attend.
I however greatly appreciate your help though, because as i stated before, i have no idea about this kind of stuff haha

Ah Charge port valves.
They require to be changed to R134a style charge ports so the adaptor off their hoses will fit, also it was made a requirement on R134a retrofits to reduce chances of R12 being put back in the system.
Does anyone know where else i can get an STV? Daniel's one was meant to get here last week but hasn't and i can't get hold of Daniel to see what has happened. It's getting pretty hot in the old Soarer so i really want to get the A/C fixed!

Shayan,
If you are desparate talk to your AC specialist about deleting it all together. I had mine fixed in NSW, but the AC guy I used up here said he usually gets rid of them.
Now, I know bugger all about the inner workings of the AC, so he could be way off the track, but then again he makes his living from car AC.
I did talk to him and he said he'd have to order one from Japan because he doesn't know where to get them. Just wish the one i payed Daniel for and was supposed to send was here.
I don't particularly want to order one from Japan.
just got some great news. Took the car in today to get all the ports changed and the new STV fitted. turns out now my compressor is pissing out the liquid/gas.
Love it how cheap auto electricians fail to pick that up. i now have to pay for the labour for this job, then come back after buying a new compressor then pay for that. it never ends!

You can get your compressor rebuild, there are places such as Orion Compressors, Nippon Air Spares and All Auto Air compressors that do rebuilds, about $300 or so. You can take a chance with the Camry one so long as it fits but make sure it has warranty, and a good length of it.

Which compressor do they have, the 10PA20C I take it 1uz has? Nippon can do just a seal replacement for $250 or so.
If your A/C Compressor was working fine, no excessive noise and pressures good, then you can just get a seal replacement done for about $220.
Also for seal replacement try - peatey@bigpond.net.au about $200 or so
If you want a new or remanufactured compressor, you could try CAR - car@a1.com.au
Now the thing is, the compressor has allready done a lot of work in it's lifetime, so you have to decide between $200 or so for a seal replacement or $500-$600 for new compressor.
I'd just go for the seal replacement but if you have the cash to spend on a new compressor then that's the go.
Give Ashdown/Ingram a go to for prices on new compressor as well as Jayair.
Then once the new compressor is in, you can have some fun taking the old one apart and see how it's built.

rang them up, spoke to a guy there and he said he thinks it's just the seals. so got it booked next week to get all that done. They've been really great, and said if they find something else they won't charge me for it.
Can't wait. as i have to drive back to bunbury tomorrow with no air con in 36 degree heat. Oh the joy
