Hi,
Just went to go get my aircon regassed, after coming back to pick the car up, the mechanic told me i have a problem. He said the temp valve which is under/next to the abs pump is not opening, or it could be another valve not functioning under the dash somewhere.
Does any one have any suggestions as to what to do ? or is there anyone around the northern adelaide suburbs area that might like to have a looksy with me ?

Didn't the person who gassed it give you any suggestions on what should be done?
Perhaps replace the "temp valve".
He must be talking about the STV valve, suction throttling valve. The valves piston might be seized and not sliding. You could take the valve out and check it, there is a piston inside that is spring loaded, that way you'll find out whether his advice was correct.

Yes that is whats happening, although it does seem to work when you first start the car for about a minute then starts getting warm again. the valve in question is also leaking a tiny bit, the dye is seeping

If it stops after a minute then it could be a few things. a) a sensor could be faulty (unlikely in a Soarer, more common on older Toyotas) - if this is the case the compressor will stop b) a safety sensor could be stopping it - likewise with above the compressor will stop c) the system is freezing/locking - if this is the case the compressor will probably continue turning.

hmmm its not actually stopping the compressor, that keeps going, its just the air that gets warmer after about a minute of it getting cold. The bottom option seems like the one to look into.

Even if the heater is always running, the interior flap should be closed not letting heat from the heater core to get into the cabin, so you should still feel cold air.
Your system might have moisture in it, and this is freezing at the expansion valve, creating a blockage. To rule this out change the reciever/drier and get the system put under a good vacuum to boil all the moisture out.
Take it to another place and see what they can do for you, the more information you give them on the situation the better they can help

Universal ones, with inlet/outlet on the side's cost about $10-15, Model specific ones around $40-$50, your best bet is to see if places like Cooldrive/Ashdown Ingram have one to suit SC300 (If SC300 is the same type.
But like the A/C guy said, it could be the Suction Throttling Valve stuck, in this case you could get the valve/spring from inside removed, and get the seam welded together on it so it doesn't leak when you re-assemble it, or you could replace that valve from that of another car
Only problem if you remove the valve component from inside, your A/C has a possibility of reaching very cold temperatures, so run it on Fresh Mode on colder days.
